Present activities

At present, BBT - Materials Processing, Ltd. (BBT) is concerned namely with a research and manufacturing of Calomel single crystals (mercurous chloride, Hg₂Cl₂) and other mercurous halides.

Calomel exhibits a high birefringence (4x higher than calcite), broad band transparency, high refraction indexes, extremely high values of acoustooptic figures of merit, low velocity of elastic wave propagation (sound). The material is applicable for optics (VIS, IR), microwave, acousto-optics, polarizers, high-power laser applications, radar, lidar, signal processing, beam splitters, delay lines, etc.
